Check out last week’s Top 5 Rankings

College football never disappoints, and this year is no exception. Let’s check in with the Weekly Rivalry Sports Top 5 for each Power Conference.

SEC TOP FIVE

The SEC Championship is set with Georgia set to square off with Alabama in two weeks!

The two powerhouse programs will battle not only for the SEC crown, but for pride. The Dawgs have surpassed The Tide as the top program in college football over the last couple of years, but Alabama isn’t going away without a fight.

There are many other strong teams in the powerful SEC and as always, it is an honor to be one of the Top 5 teams in this great Conference.

1. GEORGIA (11 – 0) AP Ranking – #1

Georgia has passed each test with flying colors this year. They went into Neyland Stadium this past weekend and defeated Tennessee by the score of 38 -10.

They have their rivalry game with Georgia Tech this weekend before they face old rival Alabama in the SEC Championship Game.

Last Week SEC Ranking: 1

Week 13 Opponent: @ Georgia Tech at 7:30 PM EDT Saturday 11/25/23

Rivalry Sports Prediction: Win

2. ALABAMA (10 – 1) AP Ranking – #8

The Tide simply took care of business as expected this past weekend when they defeated Tennessee-Chattanooga by the score of 66 – 10.

Alabama has the legendary Iron Bowl game against Auburn this week before they take on Georgia in the SEC Championship Game.

If Alabama can win out they are virtually guaranteed a spot in the CFP.

Last Week SEC Ranking: 2

Week 13 Opponent: @ Auburn at 3:30 PM EDT Saturday 11/25/23

Rivalry Sports Prediction: Win

3. OLE MISS (9 – 2) AP Ranking – #12

The Rebels might not be in the running for a CFP spot this year, but they are still having a great season and could win 10 or even 11 games this year.

First things first, they have a huge game on Thanksgiving Day against rival Mississippi State in the “Egg Bowl”.

Last Week SEC Ranking: 3

Week 13 Opponent: @ Mississippi State at 7:30 PM EDT Thursday 11/23/23

Rivalry Sports Prediction: Win

4. Missouri (9 – 2) AP Ranking – #10

A week after blowing out Tennessee the Tigers had a much closer game against Florida, but they still pulled out the win 33 – 31.

This week they will look to continue their magical season when they face a desperate Arkansas team.

Last Week SEC Ranking: 4

Week 13 Opponent: @ Arkansas at 4:00 PM EDT, Friday 11/24/23

5. LSU (8 – 3) AP Ranking – #14

LSU absolutely dominated Georgia State last week to the score of 56 – 14.

The Tigers have no questions about their prolific offense with Heisman Candidate QB Jayden Daniels leading the way, but the Defense has continued to be the weakness of this team.

They have a chance to close out the regular season this week with a win against a talented Texas A&M team that has nothing to lose.

Big Ten TOP FIVE

The Big Ten is a strong Conference at the top and weak in the middle and the bottom this year. However it shakes out, the season will come down to Week 13 and specifically “The Game” when Ohio State travels to Ann Arbor, MI to play Michigan.

This has been the case for many years, but maybe none more so than this year when Ohio State is ranked 2nd in the country by the CFP committee and Michigan is ranked #3!

Whoever wins this game will represent the Big Ten East in the Championship game and will be favored to win the game.

1. MICHIGAN (11 – 0) AP Ranking – #3

The Wolverines have made it to “The Game” against Ohio State undefeated. While they have looked dominant for much of the year against lesser competition, they struggled this past week against Maryland, but pulled out the victory by the score of 31 – 24.

Michigan may have been looking ahead to this week’s game against their bitter rival or the constant drama of the sign stealing scandal may be weighing on them, or they may be missing their head coach Jim Harbaugh who is suspended for the last three regular season games of the year.

Can Michigan put all of the distractions behind them and beat Ohio State to return to the B1G Championship, or will their undefeated season come to an end against a talented Buckeye team?

Last Week B1G Ranking: 1

Week 13 Opponent: Ohio State at 12:00 PM EDT Saturday 11/25/23

Rivalry Sports Prediction: Win

2. OHIO STATE (11 – 0) AP Ranking – #2

The Buckeyes absolutely demolished Minnesota by the score of 37 – 3 which ran their record to a perfect 11 wins and zero losses going into “The Game” against Michigan this week.

As good of a season as the Buckeyes have had, it will mean nothing if they lose to their bitter rival this week as they have the last two seasons.

We will see which team Ohio State or Michigan is for real this weekend!

Last Week B1G Ranking: 2

Week 13 Opponent: @ Michigan at 12:00 PM EDT Saturday 11/25/23

Rivalry Sports Prediction: Loss

3. PENN STATE (9 – 2) AP Ranking – #11

Penn State and its dominating Defense defeated Rutgers last week by the score of 27 – 6.

They were led by their Defense and running game as they have been for most of the year as the passing game generated less than 100 yards.

The Nittany Lions will look to get their 10th win of the season against the Spartans this weekend and will be positioned for a good Bowl Game.

Last Week B1G Ranking: 3

Week 13 Opponent: @ Michigan State at 7:30 PM EDT Friday 11/24/23

Rivalry Sports Prediction: Win

4. Iowa (9 – 2) AP Ranking – #20

Iowa just keeps winning.

It might not be pretty, but all three phases of their team contribute to each team victory although they are constantly led by their Defense and their Special Teams.

This past week they defeated Illinois by the score of 15 – 13 to cement their spot in the Big Ten Championship Game as the Big Ten West representative.

They will try to finish the regular season on a winning note when they play Nebraska this week.

Last Week B1G Ranking: 4

Week 13 Opponent: @ Nebraska at 12:00 PM EDT Friday 11/24/23

5. Rutgers (6 – 5) AP Ranking – Unranked

Rutgers has had three tough losses against the number 2, 3, and 4 teams in the Big Ten so there is nothing to be ashamed of there.

However, Rutgers is a proud team and is not looking for moral victories. They will be looking to get their 7th win of the season this week against a Maryland team that took Michigan down to the wire last week.

PAC-12 TOP FIVE

The Pac-12 has been at the top of the Power Conferences this year and they are still going strong fighting with the SEC as the best overall Conference in the nation this year.

At the top of the Conference Washington and Oregon have risen to the top and have a shot at a rematch in the Pac-12 Championship game in two weeks.

Regardless of who wins between Washington and Oregon, one of those teams should qualify for a spot in the CFP this year!

1. WASHINGTON (11 – 0) AP Ranking – #4

Washington once again proved they are a complete team in their win over a tough Oregon State team this past weekend.

The Huskies finish the regular season with a game against rival Washington State this weekend.

Washington State has not had a strong season, but the Huskies cannot overlook their rivals who are coming off of a big win versus Colorado.

2. OREGON (10 – 1) AP Ranking – #6

What more can Bo Nix do this year?

He threw for 6 touchdowns in the First Half this past week when the Ducks dominated Arizona State by the score of 49 – 13!

Oregon has looked like one of the best teams in the nation all year beside their close loss to Washington and if they can beat rival Oregon State this weekend then they will have a chance to have a rematch with Washington in the Pac 12 Championship Game.

Week 13 Opponent: Oregon State at 8:30 PM EDT Friday 11/24/23

3. Arizona (8 – 3) AP Ranking – #16

Arizona has quietly had a very good season and after last week’s victory over Utah by the score of 42 – 18 they have won 5 games in a row.

Not many teams would want to face the Wildcats right now and rival Arizona State will have to play a near perfect game to upset Arizona this week.

Last Week Pac-12 Ranking: 5

Week 13 Opponent: @ Arizona State at 3:30 PM EDT Saturday 11/25/23

Rivalry Sports Prediction: Win

4. OREGON STATE (8 – 3) AP Ranking – #15

Oregon State took Washington down to the wire last week in losing 22 – 20, but it showed just how good this team really is.

The Beavers are a dominant run team, have a strong Defense, and a decent passing game so they are tough for any team to beat.

BIG 12 TOP FIVE

Texas has secured a spot in the Big 12 Championship Game, but after that it is chaos!

Kansas State, Oklahoma State, and Oklahoma all have a path to securing the final spot in the Conference Championship game, but they need to win and have different scenarios work out for them.

This week is always exciting and with so much up in the air in the Big 12, this is the most exciting week of the year!

1. TEXAS (10 – 1) AP Ranking – #7

Texas won a tough game on the road against Iowa State last week to secure a spot in the Big 12 Championship Game.

The Longhorns still have a shot at a spot in the CFP if they can win their rivalry game against Texas Tech this week and then win the Big 12 Championship game.

2. OKLAHOMA (9 – 2) AP Ranking – #13

The Sooners won a tough game against BYU last week, but more concerning is the fact that star QB Dillon Gabriel was knocked out of the game due to a possible concussion.

Will Gabriel be back to finish the season? If not, can Oklahoma win out without their star QB?

We will find out when they play TCU this week with a possible shot at a spot in the Big 12 Championship game!

3. Oklahoma State (8 – 3) AP Ranking – #21

The Cowboys are one of the most unpredictable teams in the nation.

One week they look like they can beat any team in the nation and the next week they lose an unexpected game.

At first last week it looked like they might lose to a subpar Houston team, before they stepped up and took the win 43 – 30.

The Cowboys have had a crazy season, but they can win vs BYU this weekend and secure a spot in the Big 12 Championship Game!

4. Kansas State (8 – 3) AP Ranking – #19

Kansas State had a big win this past week when they defeated rival Kansas 31 – 27.

This helped them hold onto the number 3 spot in the Big 12 Top 5 rankings, even though they only have a slight chance of making the Big 12 Championship Game.

The Wildcats are a legit top 25 team and will look to bolster their resume for Bowl season with a win vs Iowa State to finish out the season.

5. KANSAS (7 – 4) AP Ranking – #Unranked

Kansas lost a close game to rival Kansas State last week, but they kept their spot in the Big 12 Top 5 by keeping the game close with their third string QB.

If the Jayhawks can get starting QB Jalon Daniels or 2nd string QB Jason Bean back in the lineup they could finish the season on a strong note.

ACC TOP FIVE

The ACC suffered a huge loss this weekend when Florida State QB Jordan Travis was severely injured and lost for the year.

Everyone understands how that affects Florida State, but it hurts the ACC as Florida State was the only ACC team with a legitimate chance of making the CFP this year.

That is not to say that teams like Louisville and North Carolina have not had good seasons, but they are not realistically in the conversation to make the CFP.

1. FLORIDA STATE (11 – 0) AP Ranking – #5

The Seminoles easily beat North Alabama this past weekend, but more importantly they lost star QB Jordan Travis for the year to injury.

This is a devastating blow to a team that has played basically the entire year and went undefeated, only to lose their starting QB before the last game of the regular season.

The CFP committee will most likely look at the loss of Travis and wonder if FSU is still a top 4 team, so it is imperative that FSU looks really good this week against Florida and next week against Louisville in the ACC Championship Game.

2. LOUISVILLE CARDINALS (10 – 1) AP Ranking – #9

The Cardinals won a hard fought game against Miami last week by the score of 38 – 31.

They may have been looking ahead to their rivalry game this week against Kentucky, but they got the job done.

We will see if first year Louisville Coach Jeff Brohm can help Louisville continue their surprising season by beating rival Kentucky this week.

3. NC State (8 – 3) AP Ranking – Unranked

NC State has made a push for a spot in the national top 25 by stringing together 4 consecutive victories.

If they can beat rival North Carolina in their last game of the year then the Wolfpack will have a chance at a good Bowl game!

Last Week ACC Ranking: 4

Week 13 Opponent: North Carolina at 8:00 PM EDT Saturday 11/25/23

4. NORTH CAROLINA (8 – 3) AP Ranking – #Unranked

North Carolina still has a shot at 10 wins this season, but it has been a disappointing season when you figure they wasted superstar QB Drake Maye’s last year by losing to unranked teams Virginia, Georgia Tech, and Clemson.

North Carolina needs to stay focused and win this week against rival NC State and then win a good Bowl game to salvage the season.

NOTABLE Week 13 GAMES

The season just continues to provide us with games to look forward to. Rivalry week always has too many great games to mention as each game can make someone’s season, but here are a few of the highest ranked games.

  • #11 Oregon State @ #6 Oregon – A rivalry game featuring two top 15 teams! With a win Oregon has a path to the CFP, but Oregon State could crush that dream.
  • #2 Ohio State @ #3 Michigan – This is the highest ranked game of the week and is a legendary rivalry game that is simply called “The Game”! The winner is set to make the CFP if they can win the Big Ten Championship game the following week.
  • #8 Alabama @ Auburn– The Iron Bowl is always a physical, violent game and this year will not be a letdown. Auburn has not had the season they want, but with a win over Alabama their season would be considered a success.
  • #4 FSU @ Florida– This is not only a great rivalry game, but it is an important game for the College Football Playoffs. Both teams lost their starting QB last week and we will see if number 4 FSU still looks like a playoff team without Jordan Travis.
  • #13 Ole Miss @ Mississippi State – The Egg Bowl is a classic rivalry game that is played on Thanksgiving each year. These two rivals always play tough against each other and it almost always leads to a good game.
